Hawk Seven appeared in February, 2011. It was originally intended to be a standalone story, but the author, like so many science fiction writers, found that the effort to create a logical and believable future was so enjoyable that he wanted to populate it with more stories.
At the present time, Hawk Seven will probably end up coming chronologically fourth. Hawk Genesis: War is first (published December 2011), with a direct sequel, Hawk Genesis: Peace with a planned publishing date in the summer of 2012. Third is a planned book that will take place about twenty or so years prior to Hawk Seven, and will deal with the early years of Chief Kana and Admiral Lee.
Hawk Genesis: War is modeled to a certain degree after the American civil war, and ends with the Federation's defeat of the rebels. Hawk Genesis: Peace will deal with the aftermath of that war and the efforts by a small number of people to heal the wounds that have split humanity. Hawk Seven is a clear signal that that effort will not entirely work, that brush fires will break out.
Hawk Genesis: War has only been out about one week, and it is still too soon for me to know if it is a good read. Reviewers will hopefully help. I tried to fill in the blanks of that future world while following the model of the civil war. I made no attempt to rigorously recreate every battle and historical figure, but I did find it interesting that the story unfolded and the war ended with much the same results as the civil war. I'm greatly enjoying the work on Peace.
I hope you enjoy the story.
